// Four things that change your results

Skill is not the gap. Screening, networks and unspoken assumptions are. These four moves put your work in front of the people who decide.

  1. 01

Apply where the commitment is documented

A diversity statement on a careers page costs nothing. Look for employers who publish workforce representation, name an executive sponsor, or post through equity-focused boards — which is exactly why they are here.

  2. 02

Write for the screener before the human

Most applications are filtered before a person reads them. Mirror the language of the posting in your summary and skills, keep formatting plain, and lead with outcomes and numbers rather than duties.

  3. 03

Ask who you would be joining

At interview: who is on the team, who has been promoted from this role, is there an employee resource group and does it have a budget. The quality of the answers tells you more than any careers page.

  4. 04

Negotiate with a number in hand

Pay gaps compound from the first offer. Check the range in the posting or comparable listings on the board, and open with a researched figure rather than your current salary.

// Common questions

Do I have to self-identify to apply?
No. Self-identification is voluntary on every posting. Most employers collect it separately from your application for aggregate equity reporting only, and declining never disqualifies you.
Are these roles only entry level or diversity-specific?
No. Listings span entry level through senior and executive roles across banking, health, technology, government, transport and the non-profit sector. They are general openings at employers who want BIPOC applicants.
How do I know an employer is genuinely inclusive?
Ask concrete questions: representation at leadership level, promotion history for the role, whether employee resource groups are funded, and how pay ranges are set. Employers doing the work answer specifically.
Does it cost anything to apply?
No. hireDiverse is always free for job seekers. There is no account required to browse, and no fee at any stage. Employers pay to post; you never pay to apply.
How often are new jobs added?
The board updates continuously as employers post. New listings appear on this page automatically, so it's worth checking back weekly or following the roles that match your field.
